From materials to logistics: Covestro, Hasco Vision partner to forge a green supply chain
Covestro is partnering with Hasco Vision, a leading automotive lighting supplier in China, to pilot sustainable logistics solutions as part of its strategy to decarbonize its chemical supply chain. The collaboration will trial low-emission fuels, electric heavy-duty trucks, and other green logistics technologies in and around Shanghai, aiming to build scalable, low-carbon logistics models for the automotive industry.
This year-long pilot includes commercial planning, technical feasibility studies, and real-world testing, with a focus on collecting data to support broader adoption. Both companies already collaborate on sustainable materials, such as low-carbon polycarbonates for automotive lighting and components.
Launched in 2022, Covestro’s green logistics initiative targets Scope 3 emissions (indirect emissions like transportation), which account for 80% of its total GHG emissions. Recent milestones include electric truck routes from Covestro’s Shanghai site to key customers, marking significant progress toward its net-zero 2050 goal.
